Question:

My friend, who is a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, gave me a book. I have been reading it for a long time now. I just want to ask a question about the topic “How to identify the true religion.” They were saying that the true religion teaches the truth about God’s will for mankind, and it would not teach lies such as “eternal soul” and eternal punishment in hell.” Is that true?

Answer:

They believe that, the true religion teaches the will of God to man on earth. It is not teaching any religious lies such as eternal soul and eternal punishment in hell. In other words, the Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the soul dies, and that there is no punishment in hell. But let us read what the Bible says in Matthew 10:28:

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

What is their belief that man will not die or will die? Please make clear what you would like to know, do they believe that they will die or not?

Christ said, “Fear not them which kill the body”. So you do not have to fear people who kill the flesh, after all, they cannot kill your soul. It is said that man has no power to kill the soul of a man. And that your flesh can be killed, but not your soul. “But rather fear him which is able to kill or destroy both body and soul in hell”.

Is there hell or none? Yes, there is. It could be read in the Bible. They claim that there is no eternal punishment, so why be afraid of it then? If their claim were true, then, you are free to do whatever you want to. However, Daniel 12:2 says,

"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

From the dead, some would awaken to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. So it is true. But they (Jehovah’s Witness) never believed in this.

Some of the doctrines of the Jehovah’s Witnesses are weird. They believe that man will not go to heaven. But remember, God told us to wait for His promise. So, why do we have to wait if it is already here? Why wait for the fulfillment of His promise if it is already here on earth? They believe that man will be rewarded here on this same earth, while the Bible tells us that this is not the kingdom that God’s people will inherit. Matthew 25:34 says,

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:”
