Questions and Answers
(excerpt from "Ang Dating Daan" TV Program "Itanong mo kay Soriano portion.)

Question:

If I would be converted and join your congregation, how will you prove to me the righteousness of your religion, from the beginning up to the end of days, when God said that all men are liars?

Answer:

Man, indeed, is capable of telling lies. I must admit that, I, myself have lied in the eyes of God and man.

I lie to my granddaughter whenever I ask her to take her medicine, which she always refuses to take because it tastes bitter. But I will tell her, “No, it is delicious!” Was I telling her the truth? No! But because I want her to get well, I lie to her. There was a couple who used to listen to my programs. Fortunately, they were convinced and, eventually, decided to accept baptism. But when they were about to undergo baptism, the wife approached me. She said, “Can we talk, Bro. Eli, just the two of us? I told her, “Let us invite your husband.” She answered, “No, please. I don’t want him to hear what I will tell you.” I said, “Okay, but let us talk somewhere where he could see us so that he will not suspect anything.” And so, we talked where her husband could see us. I asked her, “What is it, sister?” She said, “My husband used to work in the Middle East. And while he was there, I sinned against him. I had an affair with another man for six months. Do you think God would still forgive me for what I did? I answered, “In baptism, God forgives every sin that we have committed, so long as you repent of it.” Afterwards, her husband approached me and asked about what his wife told me.

If you were in my place, would you tell him what she told me? That is why, I admit, sometimes, I am forced by circumstances not to tell the truth to others. But I guarantee you, I never lie in the eyes of God and my fellowmen, especially when it comes to the doctrines of God. And so, you can be sure that this is a religion whose doctrines are based in the Holy Scriptures. I use the Bible in preaching the word of God. What I will say today will be what I will tell tomorrow because what the Bible states is definite.

But it would be bad if I reject the Bible and just say what I want to say, even if they do not conform to what it teaches. Now, as long as I base my teachings on the Bible, you can be sure that from now until the end, I’ll remain the same.
