Jeremiah |
|
Like the book of prophet Isaiah, the book of Jeremiah also contains prophecies, doctrines, and commandments. The first part of the book discusses how God elected and made Jeremiah His messenger. Some of the significant parts of this book are: the pleadings and counsel to Israel to repent; the futility of elegant adornments being given to false gods; and the characteristics of false teachers. The book also includes the prophecies to Babylon and Israel. This book also emphasizes God’s commandment that man should ask for the old paths and walk therein in order to find rest for their souls. The book of prophet Jeremiah is made up of 52 chapters and 1,364 verses. It is believed that Jeremiah wrote this book in 580 BC in three different places: Judah, Jerusalem, and Egypt. |
