Hosea |
|
The book of Hosea contains his expression of grief, or lament, for his own city because of its battle against Assyria, and also because of the growing dissention. Four kings of Israel had been treacherously murdered within a span of 14 years, shortly after the death of King Jeraboam II of Israel, after Assyria conquered Damascus. And later, it also vanquished Samaria. The book of Hosea is divided into two parts: Hosea 1:3 gives accounts on the personal life of prophet Hosea; and Hosea 4:14 discusses God’s relationship with Israel. The preaching of Hosea, in this book, focuses on love, which saves. It is believed that Hosea wrote this book in 745 BC. |
