he Lamentations of Jeremiah is a book of mourning
and pleadings of Jeremiah because of the
tribulations of Jerusalem. The prayers of Prophet
Jeremiah could be read in this book, wherein he
hopes for help through the mercy of God.
This book also contains advice of Jeremiah to the
people of Jerusalem because of their wrongdoings
which caused the anger of God. The sufferings of
Jerusalem is also written in this book, described by
the terror they experienced up to the point of
saying “to be slain with sword is better than to be
slain with hunger” (4:9), thus, “the hands of the
pitiful women have sodden their own children”
(4:10). This book clearly describes the great
tribulations that will happen to man in the end of
days—a warning that should be prepared of by the
city of God in this last days.
Prophet Jeremiah wrote this book on 607 B.C. in a
place near to Jerusalem. This book has five chapters
and 154 verses.
